Meet Your Speakers
Marc Bhalla, LL.M., C.Med, C.Arb
Marc Bhalla (he/him) is a dispute resolution expert who has worked with strata corporations for over 20 years. He holds the most senior designations offered to mediators and arbitrators in Canada – the “chartered” designations of the ADR Institute of Canada. Marc has served on the Canadian Condominium Institute’s National Council and is currently in his second term on the Board of Directors of the ADR Institute of Canada.
Marc’s conflict management practice is complemented by his academic pursuits. He is a curriculum developer and faculty member at Osgoode Hall Law School, the York University School of Continuing Studies and the Canadian Collaborative for Engagement & Conflict Management. Marc regularly guest lectures at several law schools across the country (the law schools he refers to as “the good ones”).
Marc has been widely published. He has contributed to various peer-reviewed academic journals and has a column in SLAW, Canada’s online legal magazine. Marc has authored three books and has spoken across the continent.
Based in Toronto, Marc is a national leader in online dispute resolution and co-wrote the country’s first book on the subject.
Matthew Both
Matthew S. Both is a civil litigator and strata lawyer. He is a founding partner of Bleay Both Uppal LLP, which has quickly become known in the community as “BBU.”
Matt has been practising law for over a decade, and is presently dedicated to growing and nurturing his practice at BBU. Prior to establishing the team at BBU, Matt practised at large national and international law firms in both BC and Alberta, where he spent much of his time appearing in the provincial, superior, and appellate courts of those jurisdictions.
In his strata practice, Matt regularly advises strata councils and owners with respect to all manner of operating strata corporations in accordance with the ever-evolving legal landscape.
Matt is a passionate advocate whose most important endeavour is achieving results for his clients.
