Kathrine Uppal, Bleay Both Uppal LLP
Kathrine Uppal, a founding partner of Bleay Both Uppal LLP, provides legal advice in all matters related to strata law. Derek practices in the area of both consumer and corporate insolvency and restructuring, and strives to offer service that is responsive, honest, and creative. His commercial insolvency experience includes private and court appointed receiverships, bankruptcies, and CCAAs. In addition, he has assisted financial institutions and debtors in conducting corporate financial, operational, and viability assessments. Derek has been involved in a number of insolvency engagements in a variety of industries and has also been called upon to assist in a range of forensic accounting and litigation support matters relating to fraud, misappropriation of funds, and matrimonial disputes. Further, Derek has acted as a court appointed liquidator in several successful strata windups in the lower mainland
Kristjan Kristjansson, Senior Director of Appraisal Services
Kristjan is responsible for overseeing all construction and claims management efforts, including project management, pre-loss appraisal and advisory services, cost consultancy, site inspections, dispute resolutions in insurance and appraisals. Kristjan has been involved in numerous major loss assignments throughout Canada, including the Slave Lake wildfires of 2011, the Calgary floods of 2013, the Fort McMurray wildfires of 2016, and the most recent flooding and hailstorms of 2020, the BC Widespread Fire Season of 2021, and the Merritt, Princeton, Fraser Valley/Lower Mainland Major Flooding of 2021.
